––– When collaborating on this Fremantle heritage home, the team worked with the Scala range of stone from Eco Outdoor, approaching the installation as a piece of craftsmanship rather than simple construction. Each stone was individually measured, cut and hand-scribed to fit seamlessly with its neighbour, creating an uninterrupted flow between the original home and its new addition. This process resembled assembling a living jigsaw puzzle, where no two pieces were alike, and every decision relied on skill and experience rather than a template. Achieving such accuracy demanded a brilliant understanding of the stone’s natural variation, careful control of tolerances and perfectly consistent grout lines. Each cut and joint were planned to enhance the material’s character while maintaining the architect’s intent. The outcome is a surface that appears effortless yet reflects hours of technical discipline – a demonstration of how expert tiling can elevate natural stone and unify an architectural vision.
